I have a hard time getting up at 6 to run. Four a.m. would be a deal-breaker, I'm afraid. It is LOTS easier to agree to exercise regularly when you have workout buddies, though. Good for him (for all of them!)   Side note: I didn't  know you...

I think that the point of the knife is to point out that it's more dangerous to cosleep than to let your baby sleep with a big knife.   ... which is b/s in my opinion. I completely agree with you about mothers in a state of intoxication, and with...

That last sentence? I have said that a million times. Sounds rough, Karen. It breaks my heart to hear childhood stories like yours: all my "character-building" stories are things I brought on myself, while my parents were as loving and supportive as...

Thanks Lori!  My photography has gone from nature and flowers to people in a hurry.  And people are the last thing I ever wanted to shoot!     Our turkey was 22 pounds.  Jeremy figured 440 minutes, 7.5 hours at 350.  I...

It is hard to watch your parents not only age but become physically and mentally vulnerable. That's where it's nice to be able to step in, even for a short time, to look after them and try to comfort them. I hope your mom is better by now and you're...

Your Catholic school experience sounds a lot like my public school experience when we lived in Scotland (I was 8). Uniforms, teachers with rulers, bruised knuckles because I talked too much.... and I married my first boyfriend in the schoolyard.

Guess I should have said I "married" him, since it was strictly a schoolyard wedding complete with plastic gold band.   I'm not from Scotland, but my dad was in the Navy, and we were stationed there for a few years.

And that is what is fundamentally wrong with our current health care system. We penalize those who need care the most, and let off those who need it the least. Insurance companies and the politicians who support them say that's only fair: but this...
